About the event
Event Description
It’s a time of year that we send cards to our families and friends, to share our gratitudes and to thank and to give. How to use your oriental brush painting skills to mark this wonderful time and opportunity to create something special?Â
During this class, you will learn how to use calligraphy strokes and oriental brush painting techniques to create Christmas trees. You will also learn how to size the artworks you created and make them into Christmas cards. At the end of the workshop, you will have unique handmade Christmas cards ready to be posted!
We will begin the class with some breathing exercises and simple meditation - to help us relax and be present in the body.Â
This is a beginning friendly workshop and no brush painting experience required to join this event. At the beginning of the workshop, you will learn the basics, such as how to hold an oriental brush.Â
Tools and Materials
There are some tools & materials that will be required for you to get the best of this workshop:
For painting:
Chinese/Japanese brush medium size approx. 2-3 cm (or any soft brush such as watercolour brush)
Black ink (or any water based black ink)
Ink container
Plate for mixing ink and waterÂ
Rice paper (or normal A4 computer paper)
Water jar for washing your brush
Colour paints (optional; Chinese / Japanese colour paints or water based colour paints)
For crafting:
Coloured Card 2 - 4 pieces (approx. 2434, or half the size, 270gsm)
Scissors / carving knife for cutting cards and papers
Ruler for measuring
Double side tape / craft glue

Who Will Be the LUCKY ONE?
When there is fun, there is always a surprise! At the end of the workshop, we will use a raffle wheel to pick one participant from the live session, who will receive a handmade Oriental Christmas postcard!
Recordings
The demonstration of this event will be recorded for late viewings. If you won't be able to join the live session, please make sure you book the ticket and receive the recordings after the events.
